I am currently working as a lecturer in the department of Statistics and Data Science at the Washington University in St. Louis. I am interested in teaching a wide variety of courses which reflect my broad educational background. Namely, I am passionate about designing and teaching courses in the fields of statistics, data science, machine learning, stochastic models, optimization, probability and applied mathematics at an introductory undergraduate, advanced undergraduate or introductory graduate level.
My primary field of research lies in statistical genetics with a focus on developing novel statistical methods for the association analysis of infectious disease phenotypes jointly influenced by a pair of interacting organisms. My other research interests include multiple testing with dependence, graphical models, Markov Chain Monte Carlo methods, time series analysis and model-based clustering.
I have obtained a bachelor’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens, a master's degree in Statistics & Operations Research from the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens and a doctoral degree in Statistics from the University of Chicago. Working with students over the years as a lab instructor, a teaching assistant, a student consultant and a lecturer has infused me with a passion for introducing new generations of students to the field of statistics and providing statistical assistance to researchers in a variety of fields.
